The Canadian Heart Association’s Advanced Trauma Life Support education program prepares health-care professionals with the advanced knowledge, critical thinking, and practical skills required to rapidly assess, stabilize, and manage critically injured trauma patients. The program emphasizes a structured and systematic approach to trauma care, early recognition of life-threatening injuries, prioritization of interventions, effective communication, and coordinated team-based patient management.
Designed for professionals working in emergency, urgent care, critical care, and trauma-focused clinical environments, the program combines interactive education, case-based learning, and realistic trauma scenarios to help participants build confidence in managing complex trauma emergencies. Participants will develop a deeper understanding of primary and secondary trauma assessment, airway and shock management, head and spinal injuries, thoracic and abdominal trauma, musculoskeletal injuries, and the coordination of high-performing trauma teams.
